JEONBUK NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
Mineral Resource
& Energy Engineering
Our department focuses on various engineering fields related to energy-mineral resources including petroleum(oil, Natural gas, shale oil and gas), coal, copper, iron, gold, diamond as well as renewable energies for their exploration, development, storage, processing, recycling, environmental control, finance and government policy. The primary mission of our department is to educate students to be world-class researchers and experts in mineral resources and energy engineering, who can contribute to stabilizing the supply of energy resources and support the sustainable development of overall industries.

About us – The department of mineral resources and energy engineering is the important area which becomes the base of all industry. The focus of our department is researching entire processes of exploration, development and treatment on valuable mineral and hydrocarbon resources underground and seas as well as exploration, development and utilization of new energy resources. The strength of our department has the high scarcity value as there are not many departments in Korea that professionally lecture and research the mineral resources and energy issues. Also, our department operates professional curriculum courses from energy resource to new renewable energy, and there are numerous alumni who are actively working in energy resource area.
History – Established in 1951
